With more than six years behind it already, Apex Legends is still drawing out new content for the battle royale. Especially with a smaller audience than seasons prior, the game is exploring more unique ways to engage old & potentially new players. The previous ‘Future Icons Event’ added a new layer of improvements to Legends Vantage & Wattson. It also introduced Arenas Duels that spinned on the traditional battle royale experience.
Additionally, Apex Legends would be extending its reach to yet another platform. It was announced that August 5th would introduce the Nintendo Switch 2 to the game’s lobbies. Also, the next season would intertwine with the new version of Apex Legends. Season 26 – Showdown arrived featuring the refreshing Wildcard Mode to the game that revamped the competitive shooter for avid players.
Now live in Apex Legends, the newest event is here that probably features the closest extension to Titanfall in quite some time. ‘Galactic Games Event’ is now happening and it features the inclusion of wallrunning. It is included in the new updated Wildcard mode. It is live until September 9th. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Welcome to the Galactic Games, Legends! Consider this your invitation to three weeks of wild times in the Outlands. Wildcard has been updated with a new, aptly named, Wild Card mechanic—giving you a chance to change the tides with new craftables and limited-time variants for the event,” Respawn Entertainment writes. Wallrunning among other abilities are featured as ‘Wild Cards’ that can be crafted at replicators.
There is also the new ‘Grand Slam Bat’. The new mythic heirloom brings a big swing for this limited-time mode, though. “Get ready to knock Legends out of the ring with the Grand Slam Bat—available for everyone for a limited time in Wildcard, no unlocking required. This ultimate choice for fans of hefty melee damage also deals knock backs and an even bigger launch after the third successful hit with the potential to impact multiple enemies.”
