No question, Ubisoft has illustrated to be supporting its legacy titles on newer consoles unlike other publishers. While the criticisms are valid towards the firm, it does deserve recognition for the patchwork we received in the past few years. For the Assassin’s Creed IP, we’ve seen its repertoire be enhanced on new systems: Origins, Odyssey, and Syndicate. All three were enhanced with a new 60hz update for no additional cost.
Similarly, the same treatment also bled over onto its Far Cry titles as well. The previous Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5, and Far Cry: New Dawn were all met with the improved performance on both Xbox & PlayStation. This is a sentiment that Ubisoft has expressed to be a driving effort for the publisher since the start of the generation and has proved to continue it with older titles as well.
Now one of Ubisoft’s oldest titles can be added to the list from the 8th generation lifecycle. This week, Ubisoft revealed that Tom Clancy’s The Division is the next on the list to be receiving a new update for 60 frames per second support. However, the patchwork is only enabled for The Division on PlayStation 5. There is no mention of an Xbox update.
“Agents, The Division is now available on PlayStation 5 with enhanced performance at 60 FPS. This update brings smoother gameplay to the snow-covered streets of New York where it all began,” Ubisoft wrote in the post. Noted, there is technically an Xbox update that has been enabled for years already. Via its FPS Boost program, The Division has been playable in 60hz since 2021 on Xbox Series X|S.
On the topic of performance for Ubisoft titles, the firm has tackled the controversy of Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Cards. In the report, the publisher elaborates that the alternative physical cartridges do open opportunity for better results than running natively. You can read the full report by heading here.
