Synonymous with Sony, Spider-Man is also a namesake IP for PlayStation. The first release, Marvel’s Spider-Man, set the foundation for the series as a platform exclusive in 2018. “Insomniac Games makes the City of New York just as much a character as Spider-Man himself. It helps push Marvel’s Spider-Man to be more than just a great superhero game; it’s a great game, period,” our review for the game reads.

Similarly, there is also the sequel Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which shipped back in 2023 that delivered an equally rewarding experience: this time on PlayStation 5. “If you are new to PlayStation, a disabled player looking for a blockbuster they can fully experience, or a returning fan, playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an absolute no-brainer and its easily one of my favorite open world games I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing for myself,” our 9.5/10 review for the sequel says.

In recent time, there has been a slow push from PlayStation for more platforms – i.e. Helldivers on Xbox. Even Marvel’s Spider-Man & Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 both shipped on PC in the past. But for the Insomniac Games titles to hit the Xbox Store, that is in favor for the Microsoft console. According to Insomniac Games on X, it responded to a now-deleted question for the chance the series will land on Xbox. The developer said “not likely”.

This does not really come as a surprise as the PlayStation firm remains adamant on delivering the majority of its titles uniquely to its console first & foremost. And while Marvel’s Spider-Man is not promised for Xbox, another Marvel superhero is still confirmed to hit the platform instead. It was confirmed that Marvel’s Blade from Deathloop developer Arkane Lyon is in development since 2023.

Looking ahead, Insomniac Games has already scheduled its release for Marvel’s Wolverine for later this year. And, that is not the end of the rainbow for this deal with Marvel. Insomniac Games also verified that the partnership will continue past its upcoming release slated for 2026. You can read the full report by heading here.

How surprised are you by this comment from Insomniac Games?
