highguard shutdown

Wildlight Entertainment officially announced that its first-person shooter, Highguard, will permanently shut down on March 12, 2026. This comes after the studio laid off the majority of its staff, with reportedly twenty employees remaining.

Highuard has seen over 2 million players; however, the developer mentions they have not been able to build a sustainable player base to support the game long term. The servers will remain online until March 12th, and Highguard will receive one final update.

“The team is excited to release one final game update to enjoy in the remaining life of the game. We’ll be adding a new Warden, a new weapon, account level progression, and skill trees! Full patch notes are coming, and we’re targeting tonight or tomorrow morning for patch release.

From all of us at Wildlight, thank you for playing, for supporting us, and for being part of Highguard’s story.”

It was reported that Tencent was funding Wildlight Entertainment’s project all along and pulled out of it after the playerbase fell off dramatically. The game was heavily criticized by content creators and the majority of players. They tried to implement updates to fix issues and make improvements, but it was too late.
