Wildlight Entertainment released first-person shooter Highguard on January 26 for Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. Two weeks after release, the studio has seemingly started to lay off staff who worked on the project.
This comes from multiple former employees who posted on LinkedIn that they are no longer with Wildlight, along with “most of the team”. One of the posts from Alex Graner, who was a Level Designer, said, “Unfortunately, along with most of the team at Wildlight, I was laid off today.”
Graner continued saying, “This one really stings as there was a lot of unreleased content I was really looking forward to that I and others designed for Highguard.”
Other developers also shared the news on LinkedIn, as shown by Rebs Gaming on Twitter:
Highguard developers Wildlight Entertainment laid off most of their development team today. Developers have begun posting about the layoffs on LinkedIn. Highguard released 2 weeks ago, what a shame. #Highguard #Wildlight pic.twitter.com/xer5VxNyW7

Immediately after Highguard’s release, there were multiple complaints from players and streamers. They listened by recently implementing fixes, including the addition of 5v5 team battles. This is not great news for those who were hoping for more out of Highguard.
Wildlight has not made any statements regarding these recent moves.
