Pokémon Pokopia: How To Get Materials

Discover everything you need to know about all materials in Pokémon Pokopia, including how to get them.

Materials are the basic items that are collected in the world and used for crafting, building furniture, and constructing structures on Pokémon Pokopia. Locating them can be challenging, as they cannot be found in only one area.

You can either pick them up from the ground, use Pokémon moves, or process the raw materials to get what you want. Getting your hands on multiple materials helps you progress and complete specific quests. They are also mainly used for increasing Pokémon comfort and unlocking features in your base.

What are the materials in Pokémon Pokopia?

Materials are the raw resources in Pokémon Pokopia that you found processed while exploring the world. They are used mainly for crafting purposes or completing specific quests. Sticks, Leaves, and Stones are the basic resources that you can get right after entering the world.

Grab the Materials

Materials can create items like a Straw Bed, Log Table, Log Chair, Bookshelves, Campfires, and more at the workbench. These crafted items are crucial for decorating your town and increasing Pokémon comfort. Some materials are required to build things like Building Kits, Storage Boxes, Town infrastructure, and more.

You placed the crafted furniture inside habitats to boost the comfort level, unlocking new features and making Pokémon happy. Papers are mainly needed for building projects and for some quests.

How To Collect Materials

The game allows you to gather resources in multiple ways. You can collect different materials by picking them up from the ground, using Pokémon moves, using Pokémon abilities, breaking resources, and processing raw materials.

Collecting essential materials

Pick Up Materials from the ground

The simplest way to get your hands on the materials is by picking them up from the ground. You can find multiple basic items scattered all around the world. Walk towards the material and press the Y button to collect it. Holding this button allows you to gather multiple nearby items quickly. You can collect items like Stones, Leaves, Sticks, and loose resources from the ground.

Use Pokémon Moves

Using the specific Pokémon moves allows you to spawn many materials around the world. Cut, Rock Smash, and Leafage are the major abilities that you must use to gather more resources. Use the Cut move to get leaves from grass and small logs from wooden objectives. You need to equip the move Cut, stand near the objective, and press ZR to cut the object.

Use Pokemon Moves

The Rock Smash ability allows you to gather materials like Stone, Ore, Squishy Clay, and more. The process of using this ability is also the same as that of Cut. The major purpose of using this ability is to unveil hidden materials inside rocks or blocks. Leafage is used to create grass patches that later can be cut or help create habitats.

Explore the World

Most of the materials can be found by exploring different areas. Materials inside Poké Ball collectibles are scattered around maps. You can also find some resource nodes like clay blocks, ore deposits, or other objects. All the materials can’t be found in only one region, so you have to explore other zones to get your hands on more items.

Process the Materials

Some raw materials cannot be used directly in Pokémon Pokopia, as they’re processed by Pokémon to create usable crafting materials. Lumber, Bricks, Glass, or Metal Ingots are the perfect example of the items that you gain by processing the raw materials. The common way to process materials is by asking a Pokémon to refine them.

Processing raw materials

The Pokemons come with a specialty that lets them convert the resources into useful items. Make sure to collect the raw materials first and then find a Pokémon with the correct specialty. Speak with the Pokémon and choose “Look at this” to provide the materials. It will then process the material and refine it after a while. You can obtain the 5x Lumber by processing 1x Small Log via Chop specialty.

Hi, I’m Ali. I started gaming with Max Payne, and it set the tone for my interest in darker, more immersive experiences. I mostly play soulslikes, RPGs, and FPS titles that focus on tight mechanics and pacing.

I have a strong appreciation for game soundtracks and how they shape the overall experience. I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
