Sony Interactive Entertainment has closed one of its new studios, Dark Outlaw Games, just a year after the studio was announced. The studio was led by Call of Duty veteran Jason Blundell and was established in March 2025. This report comes from Jason Schreier of Bloomberg.
PlayStation is also expected to make other cuts that include its mobile development team, with around 50 people laid off.
Prior to Schreier’s report, J-Soul on ResetEra shared the news and said Dark Outlaw Games were in the early stages of their project. Jason Blundell also founded Deviation Games, which shut down before creating Dark Outlaw Games. Deviation Games was not a PlayStation Studio when it shut down.
Jason Blundell is most known for his work with Call of Duty Zombies and was the Senior Executive Producer at Treyarch Studios. His first title in the series was Call of Duty 3.
