Developer Unknown Worlds announced that Subnautica 2 has reached over 5 million wishlists on Steam ahead of its May 14 Early Access launch.

The developer also hosted a First Dive Showcase, which was streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam. It discussed Subnautica 2’s design direction while showing new gameplay systems, vehicles, and expanded base-building features.

The footage highlights several of the game’s core systems, including enhanced underwater lighting and rendering powered by Unreal Engine 5.

“We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm for the Early Access launch,” said Ted Gill, CEO of Unknown Worlds. “We can’t wait to hear from you as we continue building this game together.”

Subnautica 2 will release in Early Access on Thursday, May 14, 2026, for Xbox Series and PC via Steam.
