Escape The Backrooms Gets Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 Release Today

Trending games are their own phenomena that are become publicly known regardless of interest or not. And while niché on PC, they soon evolve to console as well. Just this year, we saw this with Content Warning which hit Xbox, PlayStation, Switch with full cross-play integration. Another is Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 which is arrived this week as well.

Other major titles includes The Backrooms 1998. Inspired by the 2022 YouTube short films by Kane Parsons, it later went on to receive console ports in 2025. Specifically, Parsons’ adaptations, it has continued to swirl intrigue as he even went on to direct a live-action film with A24 that is planning to hit theaters this weekend.

Now riding on the excitement of the new horror blockbuster, publisher Secret Mode officially launched Escape The Backrooms today for both Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5. It is also available on all tiers – Essential, Premium, Ultimate – of XBOX Game Pass alongside PC Game Pass. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:

Find out for yourself by returning to the Backrooms to uncover secret levels and unlock new endings. Test yourself in Nightmare Mode, where a single death leads to a full restart. The horrors don’t end just because you’ve escaped…”
