Forza Motorsport players know that while they drive sponsor-covered track cars in-game, real drivers compete in each new season in various racing series. Microsoft acively partners with teams and cars to not only support the sport, but also bring these track stars into their games for players to get behind the wheel of and win against friends. With yesterday’s partnership announcement with Change Racing for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2017, Forza fans might have missed a very special point.
The partnership expansion between Microsoft and Change Racing comes in the addition of the Forza Motorsport logo to the team’s competing Lamborghini Huracan GT3. What’s the best way to market using new partnerships, especially ones with Microsoft? Put it in a game, naturally! That’s right, one of the PR moves to come this year will be adding the No.16 Forza Motorsport/Orion/Monster Energy GTD car to the game.
While it’s not specified which Forza game, Horizon 3, Motorsport 6, or an unannounced Motorsport 7, the car would come to, but we can expect details from Microsoft and Xbox when it does join the garage.
