Late last week, Xbox’s Mike Ybarra wrote about the upcoming features for gaming on Windows 10 and Xbox One that would be coming to consoles and PCs with the Creators Update this Spring. While Ybarra discussed a good handful of the major new features and changes, the focal point for most Xbox gamers was undoubtedly the new Guide UI coming as part of the Creators Update. During Ybarra’s surprise stream on Beam earlier today, viewers got a glimpse of the new UI on Ybarra’s system. Our featured image was captured by my fellow Rectify Gaming writer Wh1plash during the stream.
As you can tell from the image, the UI is going to be quite slick. As Ybarra wrote in his post last week on Xbox Wire, the new Guide UI “will make it faster to complete common tasks.” He had noted how, once the update officially rolls out to users, pressing the Xbox button will bring up the Guide in a new overlay on the left edge of the screen. The overlay will also let users pull of the Guide anywhere, doing anything, on their Xboxes.
Ybarra’s short description of the new Guide UI, as well as the brief look from his Beam stream today, are good indicators that that the new Guide UI will be a great improvement over the current implementation. If we see or hear anything new regarding the updates coming with the Windows 10 Creators Update and its counterpart on the Xbox One, we’ll keep you updated.
