UPDATE: Microsoft has shared more information with us regarding new Refund Policy.
“We’re always looking for new ways to improve the customer experience and regularly release new features into the Insider Program to encourage and foster fan feedback, which helps us test and refine features before they reach general availability. Earlier today, we enabled self-serve refund pilot testing for digital content via the Xbox and Windows Insider Programs and this testing is presently limited to select Insider members. Insiders can learn more about the criteria for claiming digital refunds via the Insider Hub. Beyond that, we have nothing further to share.” – Microsoft Spokesperson
It has been a long time coming, but it looks like that self refunding on Windows 10 and Xbox is coming soon. Thanks to a reddit user who posted a picture from the insider dashboard on Xbox One for what seems Alpha ring testers. Adding this self service feature also removes another barrier to entry and increases digital adoption and you will also have within 14 days / max 2 hours playtime in order to decide your refund.
- Go to account.microsoft.com and sign-in.
- Select Payment & Billing from the top menu.
- Select Order History.
- Find the purchased app or game, then select Request a refund.
Expect an announcement very soon on all of this including custom gamer pictures as well as Mike Ybarra and Major Nelson have been teasing for a while now.
