Switch owners won’t have to worry about losing their saves come September…sort of.

In a tweet on August 9th, Nintendo unveiled more of its plans for Switch Online. Nintendo writes “#NintendoSwitchOnline will launch in the second half of September. The service provides access to online play & Save Data Cloud backup in compatible games and a growing library of NES titles with added online play.”

Features will include compatible Cloud saves plus 20 free NES games that can be played online with friends such as Donkey Kong and The Legend of Zelda. The service will be $20 for the entire year while offering payment plans of $3.99 a month or $7.99 for three months. In addition, Nintendo is offering a family group plan for $34.99 which grants seven invites to anyone on the friends list to join.

Nintendo has not divulged how the NES games online will work, but it is expected that it will include co-op play and/or competitive modes.

As far as the list of compatible Cloud save games go, Nintendo has also remained quiet on the subject.

The paid Online service will also include access to the IOS and Android app used for voice chat along with more content to come later.
