As a result from the news yesterday that Sony will be supporting crossplay for Fortnite between theirs and Microsoft’s platforms, many fans are already excited to see what titles will implement the feature following this news.
Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines took the discussion to Twitter regarding the state of Fallout 76 with crossplay. Congratulating Sony for their first step in allowing the feature between the competing platforms, fans hopped onto his thread asking about Bethesda’s upcoming title and if we could expect to see cross-platform play in the future.
Folks, chill. I work with a lot of devs and games for whom this is important going forward.
Fallout 76 does not support crossplay, for a number of reasons. I have no idea if it ever will. But I assure you it is not on our radar right now as we focus on B.E.T.A. and Launch.

Though Hines did state that support for the feature isn’t completely out of the picture, it isn’t something the studio is focusing on right now. For a list of reasons the game won’t support crossplay at launch, Sony isn’t one of them keeping Bethesda from bringing it to a reality.
With a little bit more than a month until the game’s release, we might not hear about crossplay for the anticipated title long after mid-November. The response Sony received following the reasoning for no crossplay support left fans ireful demanding more direct and practical feedback to the topic. With Fortnite being the first to implement this feature, it’s unsure when we might expect another title to reach the same fate.
Bethesda’s Pete Hines mentioned earlier this week that we might expect an update on the B.E.T.A. for Fallout 76 some time this week.
Fallout 76 has a release date set for November 14 and will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
