It was announced previously by Gun Media that for all future content coming to Friday The 13th: The Game is going to be cancelled due to the legal obstacles from the franchise’s license. Leaving many wondering what’s left for the franchise as there won’t be more DLC arriving for the multiplayer title.

Producer for the franchise Horror Inc. made a statement regarding the recent court ruling from the original film’s screenwriter, Victor Miller, that there are plans for future projects for Friday The 13th. In the report from Bloody Disgusting, Horror Inc. plans to expand on new projects based in the franchise’s universe. “We are considering out options including an appeal.”

Miller who composed the original screenplay for the 1980 film is only limited to Jason’s mother who was the killer in Friday The 13th. Though in the case it states that he retains the rights to use the Jason Voorhees in the United States, it was confirmed by the franchise producer that he has no rights to use the name.

We intend to aggressively explore many opportunities for new projects featuring settings and characters (including the hockey mask-wearing killer) not included in Mr. Miller’s screenplay, and in fact are currently in development on new projects.

Reassuring for fans of the game and the film series as more is expected to come in the near future. Added on to Horror Inc.’s statement, they labeled the unnamed projects to be “announced soon”.

As there won’t be any more add-ons being uploaded to Gun Media’s kickstarted title, the publisher did reveal that dedicated servers will arrive to the game in the coming months.
