In anticipation for the remaining characters to be announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate following Persona’s Joker reveal earlier this month, fans are eager to get any hope of finding out what might be the next character to join the battle. One person in particular that took part in the conversation is Hideki Kamiya, creator of Devil May Cry and Okami.
Kamiya previously had his character Bayonetta featured in Super Smash Bros. Wii U as DLC, but recently he brought the discussion of what other characters from his series should be added to the game’s roster via Twitter. Asking if Dante from Devil May Cry, Amaterasu for Okami, Wonder 101’s Wonder Red, or Viewtiful Joe should be added in his polled tweet. Following the post though, Kamiya later removed the tweet following vulgar comments in the thread.
Though the talks of what ifs for Smash characters is always exciting, it should be noted that Nintendo has already decided the already and yet to be announced DLC fighters. For why Kamiya made the poll could be his attempt to push for an extra character or just to start a conversation, but it’s ensured that all mentioned characters aren’t in the works for the recently released title.
For those who didn’t know, Dante did make an appearance in a similar game back in 2012. The demon hunter was featured in Sony’s PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. But it wasn’t Kamiya’s Dante, All-Stars used Ninja Theory’s Dante from 2013’s DmC: Devil May Cry.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
