Today, Rare announced improvements to the patching and installation process for Sea of Thieves. The latest update for the game has you reinstall the entire game, but what’s different is the installation size of the game on Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Windows 10.
Here is the new installation size for Sea of Thieves:
- Xbox One – from an install size of 35GB to 10GB
- Xbox One X – from an install size of 47GB to 25GB
- Windows 10 PC – from an install size of 47GB to 27GB
One of the advantages of this change for the game is that the team at Rare will be able to more quickly generate and transfer builds which as they said is a significant part of day to day development at the company. On February 6th, Rare will be rolling out this big update that will allow them to make all of these improvements and when you are prompted to install the update, it download and fully reinstall the game at the install size that has been listed above.
This coming March Sea of Thieves will be a year old and we can’t wait to see what other modes Rare brings to the title.
