It seems that Nintendo plans to continue pushing compatibility for their latest Toy-Con 04 Kit which includes the cardboard virtual reality headset as a new update has been added to December’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which allows owners of the VR kit to experience the fighter in a new peripheral.

As we have already witnessed with Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild earlier this year which received a similar update, either by offering players specifically-made modes for the headset or allowing the game to be played with the goggles entirely in VR, this update is a little more different.

First off, the update restricts those who choose to play with the Labo VR to only be able to take advantage of the new update feature in single player. But for how this actually works, it is a bit more than simply playing Smash Ultimate in virtual reality. Players are given the option to play against a CPU while using the headset, but there is also the option to watch CPUs fight it out while having a “front-row seat” to the current brawl.

What other titles do you think should get Labo VR support?

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
