2015’s PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne surely made an impact on users as developer FromSoftware reworked the gameplay formula of Dark Souls with a Victorian-esque setting to bring what we know as the game today. Alongside the title’s praised in reviews expansion The Old Hunters, this only left fans anticipating for a sequel to arise at some point in the coming future.
However, the game releasing over four years now, the chances only look to be slimmer following the April release of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the announcement of the upcoming Elden Ring just happening back in June. Even chances of this year’s FromSoftware title receiving its own DLC looks to possibly be out of the picture according to sources on ResetEra.
But despite the abrupt one and done of Bloodborne, for the time being, Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently addressed the title to be his favorite title to work on upon the bevy of other projects he carried out at the Japanese studio. Speaking with GameSpot Brazil, Miyazaki shares just that along with some of his other favorites from his work at FromSoftware: one being his #1 ranked boss, Old Munk from Demon Souls.
To make this interview even more interesting atop of Miyazaki’s mind being dissected, he also speaks briefly on the topic of a sequel for his favorite project. Sharing that he would love to make a sequel for Bloodborne, but the decision is ultimately not up to him. Rather it being Sony Interactive Entertainment’s choice being that the first-party publisher owns the IP altogether, Miyazaki would need the OK from them before pursuing a follow-up.
And to even sweeten the deal of the possibility for this project to become a reality, that Miyazaki shares the IP to be owned by Sony only shows that there is chance the second installment could eventually turn into a real title. That only leaves to when if Sony decides to proceed with having FromSoftware make the game all in all.
