The episodic story-driven series of Life is Strange has broken into quite the craze since the inaugural debut of the first episode f the initial game back in winter 2015. Witnessing the title then break into a three-part prequel with help from Deck Nine to tell the back story of Chloe Price added even more excitement to the growing series as the universe began to expand for the fans.

However, by that time the Nintendo Switch also showed to be opening its borders as third-part titles and a slew of independently-developed projects started to populate the eShop. Games more specifically like Telltale Batman for instance grew hope for the possibility of seeing Dontnod Entertainment’s latest project hit the Switch as well sometime soon. The game at the time debuted for iOS, so chances looked high for more portability support to other platforms, or so I would have guessed.

But now reaching the end of 2019 and we still have yet to be graced with a Switch port for Life is Strange, and we have no real idea as for why that is. That was until a recent interview with GameSpot that finally clarified the reasoning for Switch owners still waiting on the version for the hybrid handheld console.

It actually turns out that the title’s arrival is not ultimately decided by the French team, but instead dictated by the game’s publisher, Square Enix.

We would love to, to be honest. And I think it’s something that needs to be decided by Square Enix, but definitely, I love playing games on my Switch so I would love to see some Life is Strange on Switch for sure.

Life is Strange 2 co-director, Michael Koch

Even more, Life is Strange 2 writer Jean-Luc Cano shared his support for the game’s arrival to Switch as well elsewhere in the interview. “I have the same answer, I love the Switch and I would love to see Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2 on this console.”

Developing a version for the Switch should not be a problem for Dontnod Entertainment either: although the port will not be as strenuous as developing the Switch version of their previously released title Vampyr, Life is Strange could be done in a considerable amount of time. Speculating atop of development time, the team could also expand the port to be a bundle of all three titles in the franchise for a set price which would be a nice collaboration of entries for players who have yet to explore the game’s world.

Do you think Life is Strange would fit well on Nintendo Switch?
