Last month truly opened the eyes of many to the slew of novels penned by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski through the Netlfix series adaptation of The Witcher starring Henry Cavill. While fans of the video game series developed by CD Projekt Red knew what to anticipate already, there happened to be an influx of new fans that spawned who are not familiar with its digital counterpart. This became evident when the game reached a new record breaking player count shortly after the debut of the first season last month.

After the first season receiving good reception from the public, it is expected that we will see a follow-up season to arrive later on in the coming future. And already hitting nearly a month since the show commenced on Netflix, we already have solid confirmation on the second season. Geralt of Rivia himself shares this over on Instagram.

Lead actor Henry Cavill posted a video on the social media platform to disclose that pre-production will kick off very soon: you can watch the video from Instagram below:

“Pre-production will be starting very shortly on Witcher season 2. I see that you’ve all enjoyed Witcher season one, thank you very much for that, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ll be giving you updates on here as time goes on,” Cavill announces to his followers last week. While we do not have a specified time for when the commencement of season 2 will actually begin, this tangible declaration does hold up for those who needed to know.

Projecting when exactly we will see the next season can only be determined through speculation: predicting that production/filming will begin a few month later on in 2020, we might not see the second installment of the series until possibly 2021 at the earliest.

This is not the first time Cavill has went to Instagram to reveal information on the Netflix series. Back in May last year, Cavill shared that production has finally finished for season one as the project would then move onto post-production. So expect more to be disclosed in the future through his Instagram account.

Did you enjoy the first season of the Witcher?
