Super Smash Bros. Creator Shares No More Roster Additions For Ultimate Following Fighter Pass Vol. 2

Last month during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate livestream hosted by the series’ creator Masahiro Sakurai, he reveals at the end of the live presentation that Ultimate will be receiving a second bundle of additional characters, Fighter Pass Vol. 2. Instead of the initial five that were offered for the first Fighter Pass, Vol. 2 will include a sixth slot which many are ecstatic to learn more about in the future.

However, for future reference of what will arrive following Fighter Pass Vol. 2, we would assume there will be yet another bundle to follow suit, right? Well according to a leaked snippet of the coming Famitsu Issue, Sakurai discloses tells that Nintendo does not have future plans after Fighter Pass Vol. 2.

Digging further in the translations from the leak, Sakurai tells that his continued investment to the Super Smash Bros. series has gone to the extent of potentially jeopardizing his opportunity to direct new projects at Nintendo. However, Sakurai then clarifies that he is satisfied with continuing the Smash legacy with add-on fighters if that makes people happy in the long run.

Reiterating on Nintendo’s ambitions to sever support for the Ultimate roster following Fighter Pass Vol. 2, it is later discovered in the piece from Famitsu that both Nintendo and Sakurai currently have no plans to create the next entry for the series. In light of the unknown future for Super Smash Bros. following Ultimate, Sakurai reassures that he will put his entire effort into making the best for Fighter Pass Vol. 2 additions.

As for what will come from Vol. 2 later on this year, we have no information to suggest who will be the newest fighter to join the fight. Sakurai shared last month that the decision has already been made by Nintendo ahead of the livestream: likeliness for players to expect more first-party additions to arrive for Fighter Pass Vol. 2.
