The continuing development concerning a potential viral outbreak of the COVID-19 lurgy is still on arise as we have witness this past week alone. Console titan Sony Interactive Entertainment told to be pulling the company’s booths from both this coming PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts and next month for the approaching Game Developers Convention (GDC) in San Francisco, California.
In addition, Facebook announced to be retracting the firm’s attendance to the event as well in March. The decision eliminates patrons from visiting Facebook alongside any anticipated projects from Oculus as well since the company is a subsidiary acquisition by the social media giant.
In a recent announcement made by Capcom, the company has announced to also be pulling its attendance from PAX East this coming weekend. Originally, Capcom planned to have a ‘Monster Hunter Fiesta’ during the event as the company’s presence, but that along with a signing from the Monster Hunter team has also been cancelled as well.
In light of the unfortunate update from Capcom, the company did confirm that fans will learn more about Monster Hunter: Iceborne regardless of the firm’s attendance at PAX East or not. The company will go by other means of doing so through a post, livestream, or video presentation: Capcom as of yet has announced how the company will disclose the new information later this week.
The spread of the coronavirus looks to be more unpredictable than estimated, and it is understandable that companies are taking the precautions to halt further spread if the pathogen. It is only a matter of what other companies might decide to withdraw their attendance from PAX and other upcoming events later in 2020.
Do you plan on heading to Boston this weekend despite the growing concerns of the coronavirus?
PAX East 2020 is scheduled to initiate on February 27, 2020 and will proceed until March 1, 2020.
