The paper trail chatter following Japanese developer PlatinumGames has been on a rise for the majority of 2020 so far to be fair. And none of it is bad – instead the team is sharing its ambitions to break from the grips of publishers in favor for full independence for the created properties alongside give fans more of what they want. Henceforth Platinum4: the most recent announcement comes from studio’s CEO Kenichi Sato disclosing that a new studio will be forming in the nation’s capital city, Tokyo.
Now this week, PlatinumGames returns to share that the last and final segment of the self-publishing initiative from the developer is scheduled to release this coming Wednesday on April 1st.
Noted, this is a pretty convenient time for some real news as of recent years, developers and even some publishers have taken the annual occasion to jingle the keys in the face of the fans with hyberbolic “details” on new projects. Perhaps we will expect the same to come from studio founder Hideki Kamiya as he is notorious for his hijinx he inflicts onto PlatinumGames’ following community in recent years.
Deciding what this unnamed revealed project might be is left unknown for the time being, but there is the possibility that we already have a hunch on what it might be for to say the least. During the initial reveal of Platinum4, one report resurfaced disclosing PlatinumGames involvement with Apple for an exclusive project for the tech giant’s game streaming platform, Apple Arcade.
On the other hand, fans are also hopeful that the developer would come to reveal one of the highly-requested projects that Kamiya has worked on when previously working at Capcom. Kamiya himself even shares that he “wants to make everything,” the studio founder told during a panel earlier this year. You can read the full report by heading here.
What do you think PlatinumGames has under its sleeve for this finalizing reveal?
