Reported over a month ago now, Valveās Counter-Strike: Global Offensive reached a new milestone overtaking the previously held record of concurrent players on the game exceeding into the millions. This becoming one of the most monumental efforts in the history of the 2012-released game, it was expected that number would continue to climb as time continued to develop for the title.
At the time, it was recorded that roughly 1.025 million users were active which was insinuated by the circumstances that followed the COVID-19 outbreak of self-isolation. As efforts of preventing more spread was insisted back in March, the initiative is still in effect which assisted the increase of more online interactivity.
Now in a new report that surfaced this weekend, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has now toppled the amount of active players in contrast to Valveās self-published MOBA, DOTA 2.
According to the third-party Steam Database on Twitter, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive officially overtook the long-established ruling of DOTA 2ās concurrent player count as the first-person shooter achieved 1,295,971 players this past Friday. This is in comparison to DOTA 2ās 1,295,114 that was established back in 2016.
Reflecting on the Steam Charts as of writing, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has now accumulated 1.305 million users which only continues the growing number to extend the achievement for the game. This number surely is something to be impressed by as Marchās number reads 1,145,972.
Now the only opponent left is PUBG Corpās PlayerUnknownās Battlegrounds. Currently, the battle royale sits at first place of Steamās āMost played games on Steamā at 3.2 million concurrent players. For Global Offensive to overtake this would require a considerable increase in players, nearly two and a half times the amount currently which is a potentially achievable goal, but drastic to more than double the current player count at the monumental number it is already at.
Do you think Counter-Strike: Global Offensive could topple another game if the number of concurrent players continue to grow?
