Sometime last month, gaming outlet Video Game Chronicles released a report which disclosed that Nintendo in preparations for the coming 35th anniversary of the firm’s most iconic property Super Mario can expect a handful of nostalgic remasters for Nintendo Switch. While there are a dozens of expected titles that could be on their way in the coming future, entries like Super Mario Galaxy happened to be one title very confident of a reworked rerelease.
In the midst of the news developing back in March, Eurogamer elsewhere heard a similar story from a undisclosed source reiterating on the details by stating that “a couple of other 3D Mario favourites” are expected to be receiving respected ports for Nintendo Switch. As for what the games are precisely, it was uncertain aside from the already mentioned 2007 installment and Super Mario Sunshine.
Now in a new discovery over on the Best Buy website, a listing for 2013’s Wii U exclusive Super Mario 3D World has emerged with the platform subjected for Nintendo Switch. As of reporting, the game has been delisted, but @Wario64 on Twitter has kept an image of the game on their profile.
While the game does not share images, the listing does at least hone an accurate price for the remaster. Although the game has yet to be revealed by Nintendo, it is expected to some degree that the company would charge full price for the title alike previous versions that were available on the Wii U: I discuss that in full in a separate editorial piece. As for the older titles suspected to receive the same treatment, that has yet to be addressed regarding pricing or if the games will be bundled as some have speculated previously.
Retracting to the initial reporting from two weeks ago, Video Game Chronicles told that the plan for the 35th anniversary of Super Mario was set to take place during this year’s E3, but the show as we all know has been cancelled for the year. However, this leaves room to suspect that the games planned to be announced later in the summer can still happen around that timeframe.
As of now, it is suggested that the game listed is ranked as a rumor for the time being. While this is not under Nintendo’s jurisdiction for the listing to be released as of yet, the timing happens to say otherwise.
Would you get Super Mario 3D World for Nintendo Switch or are you excited for a different game?
