Developer DICE regarding the ongoing Battlefield V has been working behind the scenes as the current Chapter 6: Into The Jungle update is still underway until the end of April. But do not worry, the Swedish studio has revealed that yet another chapter will release for the 2018-released game sometime this summer for supported platforms.

Regarding what content will be shared on this new, scheduled update has yet to be disclosed as of yet. According to a tweet on the official Battlefield Twitter account, the team shares that the likes of weapons and other game adjustments will be issued in this upcoming update. However, the thread later expands to unearth that this next shipment of content will actually be the last for the game.

When questioned on following additions for Battlefield V, DICE informs that this is the last that will be on the matter of added content. Granted, the studio did clarify that the lengths of weekly challenges and other unlockables will be provided after the update, but no major additions will be introduced follow suit. Even more, this summer update is said to be more of a content drop rather than the already-established content campaigns that DICE already issued in previously titled chapters.

Elsewhere on the latest blog post for the game, Senior Producer Ryan McArthur informs that this update is planned to arrive sometime in June. He then goes on to reaffirm that this next content shipment will be of its last. “We will release one more standalone update this summer that brings with it some new content, weapons, and game tweaks.”

This is actually surprising to see the game surmount to this as reflected previously on matters addressed by publisher Electronic Arts. During the firm’s investor call back in November, Electronic Arts’ CFO Blake Jorgenson states that the company’s ambitions for multiplayer will be established through the means of Apex Legends and the latest Battlefield. This was later reestablished during a following Financial Report when publisher CEO Andrew Wilson states “we’ll add new content and new ways to play Battlefield V in FY21.”

Later in the same thread, DICE goes on to confirm that this is not a misunderstanding. Sharing that more information on the suggested summer update will be revealed as we approach closer to the new season. With the update expected in June, we might hear something as soon as May next month.

What is your opinion on the decision to cut content short for Battlefield V?

Battlefield V is out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
