UPDATE:
It is reported that both Ninja and Shroud opted out of their contracts and have received full payments. Both streamers are free to talk with other platforms currently.
Sources familiar with the deal have informed me that while Facebook did try and negotiate to keep their big partners both Shroud and Ninja opted out. They have received their full payments and as of midnight yesterday were free to engage in talks with other platforms. Game on.

Today, Microsoft have announced that they have shut down streaming platform, Mixer and have partnered with Facebook Gaming. Starting on July 22, all Mixer sites and apps will redirect users to Facebook Gaming.
“Transitioning the Mixer community is a key part of a broader effort that Xbox and Facebook Gaming are embarking on, bringing new experiences and opportunities to Facebook, where every month more than 700 million people play a game, watch a gaming video, or interact in a gaming Group.”

Project Xcloud looks to have a purpose in this Facebook Gaming deal as Microsoft says it’s the key to this vision they have with the company.
“Key to this vision is our Project xCloud technology, which we see delivering games to all kinds of screens and windows in your life, including those on Facebook. Gaming is already part of our social fabric, and Project xCloud can take you from discussing a new game – whether it’s a funny in-game moment posted by a friend, an ad, or an ongoing stream – directly to playing it. In the future, through the power of Xbox Live and Project xCloud, we see there being just one click between “I’m watching” and “I’m playing.”
Another shocking part of this news is that the employees and partners of Mixer were not warned about this business move. According to several tweets from partners and employees they found out at the same time as the public:
We didn't know this was coming. We found out right before you.

It looks like that Ninja and Shroud have been voided from their contracts with Mixer as part of this. So this can mean they’ll make a return to Twitch or go along with Facebook Gaming.
Contracted talent (Shroud, Ninja, etc) have also been freed from their #Mixer exclusivity clause and may return to #Twitch instead. https://t.co/jDGP72ut3T
