At the very beginning of this month, independent game publisher Devolver Digital shared that it would proceed with its annual press conference in the middle of July with the Devolver Direct. The announcement comes after the firm previously disclosed to be unsure if the showcase would still take place with this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was not longer happening in 2020 due to the novel coronavirus.
Regardless, fans following the publisher eagerly marked their calendars for July 11th in anticipation for the coming show. And with the date finally arriving, Devolver Digital kicks off the presentation by announcing one project completely out of leftfield. The announcement is Devolverland Expo: a first-person experience set in a fiction convention center after the titular event was cancelled.
In the game, the unnamed protagonist can escort themselves through different parts of the show floor decorated for coming properties being published by Devolver Digital. Here is the full list of games featured in Devolverland Expo:
- Blightbound
- Carrion
- Disc Room
- Fall Guys
- Olija
- Serious Sam 4
- Shadow Warrior 3
- Weird West
“Devolverland Expo is a first-person ‘marketing simulator’ set within an abandoned convention center after the annual Devolver Digital game expo was mysteriously canceled,” the synopsis for the game reads on its Steam page. “Break into the convention center and avoid the advanced security systems to watch and retrieve all the trailers, gameplay demo videos, and other secrets lost in the expo’s cancellation.”
Although this sudden release offers a myriad of unique properties that will be launching later on, Devolver Digital ships Devolverland Expo completely for free. The title is emphasized to also feature no gore or violence, directly. However, the content presented in its respected booths will incorporate violence that is projected from their worlds.
