The Alien IP in gaming remains to bring new excitement to players over the past year. From our review for Alien: Dark Descent, our 8.4/10 expresses the game to be a “a great game, and a fun, but harrowing experience that fits the Alien name.” And upon entering into 2024, the series continues to offer more to those that return to Alien.
At the start of the year, Dead by Daylight extended its arms to Alien fans with the Xenomorph being added as a new killer with a Ellen Ripley as the featured survivor. Additionally, more is coming later this December as well. This holiday, Alien: Rogue Incursion is set to arrive to all major virtual reality devices then.
On Monday, developer Creative Assembly shared a new update on Alien: Isolation. Roughly a decade since the launch of the first game, a second installment is planned to release as the sequel now enters early development. This was announced via a letterhead posted on X.
“It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of Alien: Isolation. When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise—a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece,” creative director Al Hope writes.
“On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear. Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
