Just last year, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially established that Santa Monica Studios’ God of War IP is its most engaged brand for PlayStation. So, when it came to the series being adapted to television, it should be a smooth transition, right? Well, there has been some trouble in the writing room reportedly. According to Deadline, the show was faced with an internal restart to find its footing.
Since then, new information has surfaced on the production. In one report, it was disclosed that the series is to kickstart filming sometime in 2026. The report also understood that 10 episodes were planned for the first season. Additionally, new information also shared that the filming date is aiming to begin in March later this year.
So, the only thing remains if that to be true is the casting for the series. From the Prime Video on X, it was announced recently that Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead) is to be casted as the starring role, Kratos.
Elsewhere in a new development on Friday, Deadline also gathered new details on the casting for Amazon’s God of War. The outlet revealed that Warm Bodies star Teresa Palmer will be joining alongside Hurst as Phoebe/Sif, the wife of Thor. However, there are still gaps in other casting like Thor himself, Atreus or other connected characters to the plot.
Ronald D. Moore (Outlander) will work behind the scenes as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Alongside him producing is Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon – derived of PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.
