Developer Mega Cat Studios and publisher Retroware announced that Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit will be released on October 23rd.
The game was featured in the MIX Fall Showcase and finally received a release date announcement. It is an all-new action platformer adventure set in the AVGN universe. You play as The Nerd and aim to blast your way through zombies, mechanical skeletons, ghoulish reapers, and more.
During the show, a new Official Release Date Trailer, narrated by Nerd creator James Rolfe, was released.
According to a previous reveal earlier this year, the game features retro-style 2D side-scrolling and live cutscenes. It will be a classic 8-bit experience where you run, jump, slide, and shoot through pixel levels. A cartridge version will also be available for the retro hardware NES. As you progress, you pick up power-ups and take different routes to get to boss battles.
The Nerd will face some familiar faces from his past at the end of every level. Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit will launch for all current-gen consoles and PC, including Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Physical editions for Switch and modern consoles will also be available via Limited Run Games.
