Assassin’s Creed fans although just receiving a new game this past autumn never ceases to be hungry for new games. Already, it was confirmed that three projects are underway: Codename Red, Codename Jade, and Codename Hexe. The first two were recently disclosed in being Assassin’s Creed Shadows & Assassin’s Creed Jade respectively.
On Wednesday, Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin’s Creed Shadows with a new cinematic trailer that explores feudal Japan of the ‘Late Sengoku Period’. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Ubisoft Quebec’s focus throughout the development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been to fulfill two iconic player fantasies – shinobi and samurai – and ensure that its late-Sengoku period setting, known for its political tumult, warfare, and dramatic social reformation, serves as an authentic backdrop for the pair. This means both protagonists offer vastly different gameplay experiences, and overlapping perspectives on a transformative moment in Japanese history.”
Ubisoft as evident in the trailer decided on two playable protagonists: Yosuke and Naoe. Similar to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, both offer to the core storyline whilst differentiating based on their traits between combat as well as stealth. This is also a first for the series now enabling the protagonist to be a historically accurate character players can control.

“The decision to include a playable, real-life historical figure of this era in Assassins’ Creed Shadows was two-fold: Ubisoft Quebec wanted to include a Samurai, and Yasuke’s story was open-ended enough to allow for creativity; there are still plenty of questions and speculation surrounding him,” Ubisoft elaborated in the blog post.
