Amid the mound of controversy & complaints that followed it into release, Assassin’s Creed Shadows walked away with a 8.5/10 from Rectify Gaming in our review. “Assassin’s Creed Shadows successfully revitalizes the franchise by introducing a compelling setting, well-developed characters, and innovative gameplay mechanics. Its blend of action, stealth, and cultural immersion offers a rich and engaging experience that both honors the series’ roots and pushes its boundaries.”
Following the game’s release, the game has been pieced together with the promise from its post-launch roadmap in free updates. Alongside the approaching release for the game on Nintendo Switch 2 as well, there is even more to anticipate for the newest in the series. As well as DLC ‘Claws of Awaji’, it is understood Ubisoft will continue to support the title into Year 2.
However, when speaking to JonRaptor in a recent interview, associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois expressed there is no additional expansion plans currently for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You can watch the segment in the video below:
“With the caveat that anything can happen in the future, as Mirage has proved and the crossover from Odyssey to Valhalla has proved before it, things could come up in the future. But as of now at this moment for Year 2, there is no expansion on the size of Awaji that is planned currently,” Lemay-Comtois said. Of course, he is referencing this could change alike the recent Valley of Memories that arrived to Assassin’s Creed Mirage roughly three years after releasing.
Lemay-Comtois does not verify that Year 2 content isn’t coming. He only refers to the major DLC add-on that is expected in the roadmap. So while other updates & quality of life improvements are coming, expectations should be tamed on if there will be another story expansion for the time being.
