Back in March, 343 Industries revealed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be debuting on PC sometime in the coming future for Windows 10 and surprisingly on Steam as well. Unlike the version Xbox One users are familiar with which offered Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo 4 in one bundle, 343i shared that the 117 collection will be released in pieces set in chronological order.

The Xbox Game Studio segued this to announce that Halo Reach will be coming to the collection along with said game being the first to arrive on PC. As for when fans might expect the game to officially release on either PC or even console has not been detailed since; not until recently, however.

343 Industries revealed through the most recent Halo Community update that the closed beta for Halo Reach on PC is set to take place sometime this week. Announcing that those who signed up through the Halo Insiders Program should be expecting a word on the exclusive playtest soon.

“If everything goes according to plan, our first flight for Halo: Reach on MCC PC will be next week to a small subsection of registered Halo Insiders. We’re starting more modestly because we’ve got quite a few levers to pull and we want to ensure our delivery pipeline runs smoothly, our communications are clear, and that participants can properly provide their feedback on the build. Since there are so many pieces and levers that need testing, verification, and appropriate approvals, we need to take our time to ensure we’re sending out a quality flight to our Halo Insiders,” Community Team member Unyshek explains. “The team has a build which appears to be a strong candidate, but it’s still in the middle of going through the test process as I type (and as you read). That said, we’re still targeting to release next week and will be sharing the details with the public.”

It seems that 343 is shy this time around for those who will be playing the beta for Halo Reach to ensure a better experience when the playtest goes live. Especially seeing how the developer has continuously worked hard to remove the label off their head that was given following the initial launch of MCC, 343 is playing it safe to steer clear of repeating history.

Word on when exactly Halo Reach will debut for either console or PC has still been left in the dark currently.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is currently available on Xbox One.
