As of late, Bethesda has put a major emphasis on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. It was revealed at its most recent Nintendo Partner Direct Showcase that there is a port on the way for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Even more, the full game will be featured on the cartridge upon release. Also, Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition officially hits the platform on February 24th.
One big surprise that was left for last during the presentation was The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. The Unreal Engine 5 experience is planned to hit Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2026. Not to mention this will complement the already available The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition that shipped back in December.
Despite the new hardware, it was a surprise that Bethesda Game Studios did not provide ample support for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of its most-popular game. The game did not ship with a 60hz option. That was until recently where update 1.2 for this version rolled out incorporating a new framerate option on Nintendo Switch 2.
“Added a 60 Hz mode under Display settings that allows players to toggle between ‘Prioritize Visuals’ or ‘Prioritize Performance’. In addition, frame rate has been locked at 30 Hz in ‘Prioritize Visuals’ mode for smoother gameplay.” Bethesda writes in the patchnotes. So now the Nintendo Switch 2 version is on par with its Xbox & PlayStation counterparts.
Bethesda also listed a number of improvements to performance in select scenarios: “during the Hide and Seek quest in Kynesgrove; during combat at Secunda’s Kiss; when discovering the ‘Drelas’ Cottage’ location; when engaged in combat with a giant at the Talking Stone Camp.”
Do you plan to try the 60hz mode in The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition?
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
