Bungie Announces ‘Server Slam’ Open Preview For Marathon, Coming February 26th

Although a titan IP for Bungie, the new iteration of Marathon has remained in a position many would not expect. Since the announcement of the game’s delay, there has been a shroud of doubt on how the game will perform when it officially comes out. Reassuring, corporate Sony has addressed that it still plans to ship the game before the next fiscal year officially kicks off later this spring.

Last month, Bungie took the spotlight to properly confirm that Marathon will officially arrive on March 5th – meeting the promise made by Sony. Even more, plans for a limited edition DualSense PlayStation 5 controller was also revealed. There is even a Collector’s Edition of the game; two versions that include with & without the game.

During the PlayStation State of Play, it was confirmed that Marathon will be hosting a ‘Server Slam’ open beta preview later this month. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“Today the Bungie team shared more details about the upcoming open preview weekend*, which will run from February 26 to March 2 on PlayStation 5 and other platforms. The weekend will feature an introduction to Marathon’s gameplay, with additional maps, factions, contracts, and more to come at launch and during Season 1,” principal communications manager Nikki Brown shares.

“Players worldwide can help stress test Marathon during the Server Slam on PlayStation 5 and other platforms. […] You’ll also be able to earn a tiered gear package for Marathon’s launch, which includes weapons, body implants, and more to help you on your first runs.” theServer Slam will feature zones Perimeter & Dire Marsh, all six Runner Shells, and even integrate solo queue as well as proximity chat.
