When associating Burger King with video games, the fast food chain has not been involved for nearly an entire console generation. It was during the Xbox 360/ PlayStation 3 era that the firm shared to entertaining to the idea of introducing titles marketed with the company’s mascot, the Burger King. Introducing named titles like Sneak King, Big Bumpin’, and PocketBike Racer were released as part of a promotion to feature new items added to the menu at the time.
Howbeit, the restaurant is making another round with the video game industry in anticipation for the new consoles on the horizon for this November. In a tweet that was made yesterday, a video was shared of the titular mascot opening a bag to be revealed to a blue light and a short chime playing. The PlayStation account then responded to the tweet implying a new partnership is underway.
Followed by the console giant acknowledging the post, it led users to gather that the noise heard is actually the boot-up chime for the next-generation unit. Similarly, Microsoft teased its boot-up chime for the Xbox Series X earlier this year.
Elsewhere on Newsweek today, the publication shares the first details on the upcoming promotion formed between Sony and Burger King. “Starting October 15 through November 22, purchasing the two for $5 meal at any Burger King in the US will have a chance at winning a PlayStation 5,” the outlet pens.
In more detail, participants must register via the BK mobile app and/or BK.com to enter in the promotion. Then the customer if purchasing a two for $5 deal or makes a transaction over $5 will be given a virtual game token which can then be redeemed via an online scratch off in hopes to win a new PlayStation 5. Other possible opportunities include game download codes and Burger King coupons.
