The Game Awards featured a couple of shocking announcements, including one from Naughty Dog with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Capcom announced that they have started development of the Okami Sequel, which fans worldwide have highly requested.

It was also revealed that Hideki Kamiya, the director of the beloved original Okami will return as director for the Okami Sequel. This title is being co-developed across multiple studios that include various staff members of the original game. The studios include M-TWO Inc., Machine Head Works Inc., and a newly created studio led by Kamiya, CLOVERS Inc.

Hideki Kamiya returns to game development after leaving PlatinumGames last year. Kamiya revealed on his YouTube channel at the time that he couldn’t return to game development for a full year.
