The path laid ahead for Capcom has only been getting smoother with the recent release of Resident Evil Requiem. Already, it was understood the newest installment would attract players from the IP’s reputation alone. A big surprise came when Capcom & Nintendo verified that the title will ship day-and-date for Nintendo Switch 2 as well in February.

Instantly, the release was a success for the Japanese publisher. It was soon revealed that major retailers like Target, GameStop, and Wal-Mart all sold out of copies for the game. On Steam, the title also shattered previous concurrent player records too. And by the end of the first week in its release, Resident Evil Requiem was revealed to sell over five million units across all platforms.

Looking ahead, Capcom has pressed on its future plans for Resident Evil Requiem. Not only will free updates for the game becoming, but also a planned story expansion as well according to game director Koshi Nakanishi.

“We released an update the other day to fix a variety of issues, and we will continue to address any other bugs and performance issues. But that’s not all. We are also planning to add more content. First, the much-awaited photo mode. On top of that, there’s another surprise coming around May. We’re planning to add a mini-game,” Nakanishi shared in the feature video.

“We are planning to make extra story content! In this story, we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem,” he added. “We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it.” The last mainline DLC came back in 2022 for Resident Evil Village’s The Winters expansion.
