For fans who might not be following, Capcom has been working endlessly to making a blockbuster Monster Hunter film. The project surfaced back in 2018 and reveals actors like Mia Jovovich, Tony Jaa, and Ron Pearlman to be involved with the Hollywood project. Even more in a recent reveal, the project was shared to be aimed for a September 4th box office debut.

Now revealed in the publisher’s fiscal year review slides, Capcom is confident with the films arrival for late summer. The financial report reads that the “Hollywood film adaption Monster Hunter scheduled for September 2020 release.” The approaching movie happens to be a larger ploy initiated by Capcom to grow a larger commercial presence globally.

In Japan, the firm shares to hone a prominent stance in its home nation. The financial report goes on to share that Capcom opened an addition three retail locations within the last fiscal year (FY19). Counting a total 43 stores in total, Capcom has also established its footing elsewhere through partnered collaborations with cafés in the country also by serving themed dishes and beverages.

Monster Hunter as a whole has also received an influx of popularity in the past couple of years prior to the film production initiating. The latest Monster Hunter World was reported in the document to be at 15.5 million units. Overall lifetime franchise sales marked at 63 million, the 2018 entry stands to be roughly a quarter of its success within two years of its release.

Returning to the discussion of the film, the production firm responsible for the upcoming release, Constantin Films, is also working on the previously announced Just Cause film with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad. As for the Monster Hunter film itself, it is unsure if the project will actually hit the box office by then or be a direct purchase due to the ongoing pandemic still projected to be affecting major businesses well into fall.

In other Capcom-related entertainment, the firm is expected to release its own Netflix series for Devil May Cry. Announced back in late 2018, the project was shared to be involved with Castlevania Produce Adi Shankar to helm the production. You can read the full report by heading here.
