
When Sony celebrated 35 years of PlayStation at the end of 2024, they released a limited time selection of nostalgic customization features. It included classic UI options from the four PlayStation consoles that paved the way for PS5.
Players could have a UI that was themed after PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. It was such a popular feature that fans wanted it back full time. And it looks like Sony is doing just that.
On April 24, an update for PS5 will be rolling out for all users that will bring Classic Console Designs for the PS5 UI, along with audio enhancements.
“Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from our community, we’re happy to bring back the look and feel of the four console designs for players to customize the home screen on PS5,” said Sony in its latest blog post.
The new feature for the classic UI will be called the Appearance and will be accessed through the Settings menu:
