I would assume many might not have forgotten the controversy that trailed behind Ion Fury, but for those who might have missed it initially – in anticipation for the game’s arrival back in August, the game was hit with a lawsuit due to the similarities it shared with its initial name and a popular rock group. Originally dubbed Ion Maiden, the game was preparing to release until publisher 3D Realms received a cease and desist from Iron Maiden and the naming for the project was considered to dodge the dispute.
After the initial encounter from the music performer’s legal team, 3D Realms ultimately decided to rename the title to Ion Fury. At the time, the publisher also released the new titling alongside the officially launch date near the end of the summer.
Now with the game settled onto PC for about half a year now, 3D Realms has returned to announce that the game will be arriving to consoles next month. You can watch the full announcement trailer in the video below:
Framed as a spiritual successor to Bombshell and ultimately the entire Duke Nukem franchise, Ion Fury takes those elements and applies them to modern assets. Offering high-intense gameplay of original 3D, first-person shooters and broadens the horizon with more options like weapons, intuitive elements, and lots of violence. The game is applies to both newcomers and veterans of the genre.
3D Realms also announces that atop of the digital release shipping next month, fans anticipating a physical copy of the game can do so at the end of June. Respected versions for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo are told to arrive on June 26.
