Cory Barlog’s new IP set in the God of War universe is expected to be revealed this year, it’s claimed

Ever since Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studios revealed plans to remake the God of War Trilogy, more rumors have circulated about Cory Barlog’s new game. It has been reported that Cory Barlog’s new IP is an expansion of the God of War universe. 

Notable insider, Nate The Hate shared more information about what he heard. He has heard that the new game from Cory Barlog is set within the God of War universe. The lead character will be Faye, and the gameplay will be different from the Norse god of War titles, with more of a focus on action.

The plan is to reveal this new IP this year with a release planned for the first half of 2027. Of course, this is suggesting there wouldn’t be any delays.

The previous rumors originated on LinkedIn, which cannot be viewed anymore. Thanks to Reddit, a resume from the studio’s former Senior Writer, who worked on the game for over 5 years. 

Their resume shared that they helped shape narrative vision and creative direction for a new franchise within the God of War Universe, developing characters, storylines, and original lore that expanded the acclaimed IP. Integrated story with gameplay and worldbuilding through scripts and narrative content, collaborating across disciplines to deliver emotionally driven experiences for a global audience.
