It’s been a few years since Dance Dance Revolution has been relevant in the game industry. Since it’s peak in the early 2000s, the game slowly got forgotten about with other rhythm-based titles like Guitar Hero and Just Dance. According to Deadline, we will see the series coming back as a featured film.
Announced by Stampede Virtues, a film studio created by Greg Silverman, will be creating a movie on the fan favorite game. Announced with the upcoming of the film, it was revealed that Cara Fano was promoted to Director of Film & Television under the studio. And will be showrunner for the mentioned film.
The plot of project will focus on a world close to collapsing and using the universal language of dance to prevent society from collapsing. Stampede mentioned that they will partner up with branded Pictures Entertainment as well as Konami to create the film.
Cara Fano has previously worked at Management 360 before moving over to the production team for Matthew McConaughey’s film Gold. On top of that, she has also wrote and produced five episodes for the television show The Filth.
For what’s to be expected by the interesting choice for the film’s influence is unknown, the ongoing list of video game-based films continue to grow. As most of the films tend to be received below average, there’s still a chance that one of these film will change how most people view gaming influenced cinema.
