At least to grasp the advancements of the comfortably-welcomed FPS Boost feature, the initiative from Microsoft has become a new standard and certainly outperforms the previous X Enhanced program from last generation. In that, the feature predating back to February welcomed itself with support for five new games. But, Microsoft went on to double that with a second update dedicated to a handful of Bethesda titles later on.

Additionally, Microsoft in a separate Electronic Arts lineup of game also addressed FPS Boost to a significant amount of title. The number of supported games went on to nearly quadruple from the original shipment. Lastly, the last batch welcomed more than fifty titles welcoming now more than 90+ games to feature FPS Boost that was not possibly on previous hardware.

Now in a new announcement on Wednesday, Microsoft revealed that one game is expecting the feature: Dark Souls III. Now, the game is optimized for 60 FPS gameplay which has never made its way to Xbox One when releasing initially.

Moreover, Xbox Director of Product Management Jason Roland on Twitter announced to hear the outcry for an update and elaborates that the game required a new approach to make a reality. “The team is thrilled to bring FPS Boost to Dark Souls 3. This required a brand new technique, unique to Dark Souls 3, to enable 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S.”

As for advancements to titles under Microsoft’s expanding ecosystem, the firm in a recent announcement elaborates on the matter for PC titles. Likely through the coming Windows 11 Store, players can anticipate new features like cloud streaming and auto-HDR be applied to games. The same is likely expected for FPS Boost if further experimented with. You can read the full report by heading here.
