Looking back to the start of this very eventful summer, Sony Interactive Entertainment held its PlayStation 5 showcase event to properly illustrate what exactly is expected to be projected for the coming next-generation console. Given that some expected franchises of this current console cycle will be reiterated with a follow-up, the only one unique to PlayStation is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
However, fan-favorite series of prior hardware has been featured to be making a grand return for the PlayStation 5. One game being FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls. What essentially holds as the catalyst for the extremely popular and notoriously difficult Dark Souls trilogy, the 2009 release which shipped uniquely on PlayStation 3 will be receiving a complete reworking for the approaching PlayStation 5.
While not give any notion as to where the game will ship, it was expected the title would be launching sometime after the console’s arrival later this holiday season. But taken from a discovery on a Korean Ratings Board, its release might be sooner than expected. Gematsu on Twitter elaborated on the details of rated PlayStation exclusives and correlated that a holiday release is certainly possible for the Demon’s Souls remake.
Reflecting on the reference given, it is projected that the game would stand for about two to three months on the ratings board before it is properly released. Even more, with the title being unique to PlayStation 5, it also emphasizes the plausible timeframe for the console’s launch also. While not giving an approximate date for either, it does seem to be a tangible hypothesis if the game happens to follow the pattern of previous projects.
However, despite the convincing theory, it does not fully solidify that the Demon’s Souls remake will be arriving. Noting that the game was never presented with even a release window during its initial reveal, the game could be waiting well into 2021 for an official release later on. So for now, rank the projection as conjecture until properly disclosed by Sony, Bluepoint Games, or Japan Studio.
