The hype for Destiny 2 continues with gameplay premiere, new information, new images and more. Destiny 2 is tailored to new players, solo players whilst embracing the classic, hardcore fans. Here’s what we know:
Give me Beta
Much like the first Destiny, the sequel is scheduled to host an open beta later this summer, Bungie confirmed during the event. In terms of what might contain, we believe the first mission ‘Homecoming’ is potentially a candidate, the new PvP mode called Countdown, and probably the new strike ‘The Inverted Spire’. Bungie is going to reveal the actual content later this summer.
30 FPS capped on consoles
Destiny 2 is now confirmed to run at 30 frames-per-second on Xbox One. PS4 and PS4 Pro, David Shaw Head of PC at Bungie said to Heavy. That’s disappointing news for a lot of gamers hoping for a better framerate upgrade. In regards of Project Scorpio, the FPS is unknown as the studio is not ready to talk about Destiny 2 on Project Scorpio and the advantages it will bring over the standard consoles won’t be disclosed until E3 2017. This seems Bungie has something good for the Scorpio console at this E3.
Matchmaking is now more competitive
Bungie is well known to provide games with competitive settings (ie. Halo series), and with Destiny 2, Bungie is revamping the Crucible which now features 4V4 gameplay across all modes. The new HUD will give you new information regarding your opponent’s Super or if they’re carrying power ammo allowing for more strategic competitive gameplay. Also, Bungie has developed a new mode called Countdown.

Fewer loadings, more action.
With Destiny 2, Bungie is aiming to get fewer barriers between you and the gameplay. Luke Smith unveiled players will be able to launch all activities, missions, patrols, public event and more without going to orbit. This means less tedious minutes waiting for a mission to load and more action for you. Additionally, there are new Adventures, which Bungie describes as missions where you will be sent by an NPC to a specific location to discover mysteries. Players will also be able to find Lost Sectors, hidden dungeons with a boss and loot….tons of loot.
New Abilities for your characters
The three known classes for Titan, Hunter and Warlock are remaining the same, however, in Destiny 2 Bungie is introducing a new class for each character. So far, we’ve seen the Dawnblade, a Solar Warlock subclass that lets you fly with a fire-slinging sword; the Sentinel, a Void Titan subclass who can summon a shield to smash into enemies and throw, and the Arcstrider, an Arc Hunter subclasses who wields a powerful staff of lightning.

A better story this time
When Destiny launched in 2014, the game was met with an enormous amount of criticism for its lack of story. Since then, Bungie has launched several DLC to fix that issue. Destiny 2 is aiming to provide a better story at launch than its predecessor with more cinematic cutscenes and story missions than ever before. Players will battle Garry…… we mean Ghoul, the leader of the Red Legion who believes his race should be Guardians and not the humanity.
4 new worlds to explore
Destiny 2 is going to feature four brand new locations for players to dive in and explore. So far, the studio has revealed European Dead Zone, an area the humanity runs away to after The Tower is destroyed by the Red Legion. Titan, the moon of Saturn filled with human structures. Nessus, a planet taken over by the Vex, and Io, the moon of Jupiter.
Destiny 2 now on PC
Destiny 2 on PC is having 4K support, uncapped framerate, battle.net exclusive client, full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping, text chat, an adjustable field of view, a detailed PC settings screen, and 21:9 monitor support. Blizzard president Mike Morhaime confirms that players would be able to use Blizzard’s service to download games, explore, and connect with each other. Of course, Battle.net’s in-built friend’s list and chat functionality will work with Destiny 2.
As for Dedicated Servers, Bungie’s Head of PC David Shaw confirmed in an interview with PC Gamer that server infrastructure was “complicated” and they “do not have dedicated servers for Destiny on PC” – presumably not on consoles either.
Welcome, Guardians! We're excited to announce our partnership to bring #Destiny2 to PC!

Clan Support and Guided Games
Probably one of the highlights of Destiny 2 as a mostly solo player is Clan Support and Guided Games. In the first Destiny game, Bungie revealed 50% of the player base never got a chance to play the Raid mode, one of Destiny’s unique missions. This time, with the support of Guided Games, players will be able to search for clans, read a little bit about each clan, and choose whether they want to play with them for a specific Raid. A group of players from the clan then help the solo player through the Nightfall or Raid. In exchange, a group of five players who needs a sixth can use the system to fill that gap.
