As of last year with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided falling just under to what was expected for when the game launched, and soon after putting the series on hiatus many came to the conclusion that the series was done for.
But recently in an interview with Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda that Deus Ex is a “very important franchise”.
In an interview by gamesindustry.biz, discussing the success of the company and how they plans to act ahead in the future. While speaking of games like Thief, Tomb Raider and Just Cause; Matsuda had to follow up on what lies for Deus Ex as the sudden rumor for the game being ultimately done. Quoted by Matsuda in the interview:
We have never said anything about discontinuing that title but for some reason that’s the rumor out on the market. We are already internally discussing and exploring what we want do with the next instalment of it.
And to follow by defending Deus Ex that other games have to wait their turn as there are other IPs under Square Enix. Edios Montreal along with Crystal Dynamics are currently working on the upcoming Avengers title that was teased January with the partnership debut between Marvel and Square Enix.
