While Microsoft heavily urged the push on Skype last console generation following the platform’s acquisition, the new ambition on Xbox tails behind Discord. There were even talks about the Xbox firm outright buying Discord, but those plans eventually fell through. It was later learned that Sony Interactive Entertainment made a stake investment in Discord.
So what does this mean, Discord on PlayStation first? That is assumed, yes. The firm did press some updates on the PC client for PlayStation users. But, when will it arrive. Weirdly enough, the voice feature entered Xbox Insiders rings earlier this year for users to sample the feature before it is full operable for all users.
Now on Tuesday, Microsoft reveals Discord Voice is now available on both Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S systems too.
With this update, you can now chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from your console, making it easy to connect with friends across mobile, Xbox, and PC. This means that you will be able to see who is in the call and speaking while you are playing on your console. You’ll also be able to adjust the sound and switch between Discord Voice and Xbox game chat while you play all your favorite games.

“To get started, head to the Discord mobile app and link your Discord account to your Xbox. You’ll need to do this step even if you’ve linked accounts before. After that, you can join any Discord voice channel or call and transfer it to your Xbox,” the Xbox Wire post goes on the mention.
Elsewhere recently, Microsoft just greenlit a new feature for Xbox Party Chat to filter out background noise. This includes chatter, chewing, and breathing. It is unclear if that is unique to the in-house chat system or for Discord too. You can read the full report by heading here.
